Lona explained hyper-achiever as a saboteur, referencing Shirzad Chamine and his research and New York Times bestselling book Positive Intelligence.
Lona went into ways the hyper-achiever lies to individuals and creates stress and overwhelm.
Lona discussed 3 ways lab leaders who are hijacked by the hyper-achiever can weaken this saboteur and reduce the stress and overwhelm
1. Connect to self through introspection and use of PQ reps
2. Disconnect from the outcomes
3. Develop a habit of more frequent mental fitness breaks and introspection

Dr. Nuñez-Argote is an accomplished laboratory professional that is passionate about her colleagues being healthy and prosperous. In this exciting episode, co-host Stephanie Whitehead and Dr. Nuñez-Argote, discuss her professional journey and her ongoing research focused on musculoskeletal pain in laboratory professionals. Tune in as Dr. Nuñez-Argote gives insight into some leading ergonomic causes that result in long-term pain for laboratory professionals and tips on addressing them.
Special Guest Bio:
Letycia Catalina Nuñez-Argote, PhD, MLS(ASCP)CM, was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. She completed a BS in clinical laboratory science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in 2007. After graduating, she worked as a night shift medical technologist at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She returned to her home country to pursue a Master’s in Public Health from the Escuela Nacional de Salud Publica de Mexico, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, which she completed in 2011. She started teaching with the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Arkansas in 2014. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in laboratory sciences as clinical assistant professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her PhD training is in Health Policy and Management and her research seeks to integrate safety practices to address pain, burnout and turnover in laboratory professionals, and to understand the staffing needs of rural laboratories.

Sean Tucker is the Director of Laboratory Services at North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City Missouri. He received his B.S. from the University of Kansas Medical Center in Clinical Laboratory Science and Molecular Biotechnology. Sean received his Masters in Business Administration with Healthcare Emphasis from Rockhurst University. Sean has been an active member of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association on both the local chapter and national level. He currently is the CLMA Chapter representative on the CLMA Advisory Group for the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Sean received the ASCP Forty under 40 award in the 2014 inaugural ceremony and was also awarded the KUMC Early Career Achievement in Health Professions Alumnus by his alma mater in 2017. Sean enjoys cooking, coaching soccer, riding motorcycles and spending time with his wife Angel and two children Payton and Genevieve.
