Elevate City Church

What could your life look like if only you knew how much God truly loves you.

When you understand how loved you truly are, and how core that is to your identity: it has the power to change how you live what you do and ultimately everything about you.

In Ephesians 3, Paul is on His knees pleading with God for Ephesus, and for you, praying that we would know the magnitude of God’s love for us. Paul knew that if we truly did then we would’t want to worship anyone else, then we wouldn’t chase after worthless pursuits. If only we truly knew Godly love.

One of the biggest plot twist throughout all of life and the scriptures in this -- you are adopted into the family of God.

Paul in his letter to Ephesus, found in Ephesians 3:1-13, has a new declaration for the family of God...

Attention family… there’s been a secret kept hidden since the beginning of time.

You are a part of the biggest scandal in history.

The mystery of your true identity makes you worth going to prison for.

A courier carries the most expensive package of all time with your name on it.

You are heir to an inheritance of unsearchable riches

Your a member of the royal family. A partaker of the promise.

You are not in last place.

You are a lead actor on center stage in a cosmic story with celestial pop-a-rot-z

God gives you his name and stakes his reputation on you.

You have at your disposal supernatural weapons that produce boldness, access, & confidence

And Your glory - yes, your glory is worthy of great suffering.

And it all happened because someone else died.

We pray this message blesses you and that you would continue to be with us as we journey through Identity-- a study through the book of Ephesians.

Church is not a place you attend, it’s a people you belong to.

Pastor Joey McLaughlin gives the blueprint of this message:

1. You don’t belong and you feel it.

2. Identity and belonging are inseparable.

3. So you try to belong but to the wrong thing.

4. You can truly belong but only by the blood.

5. You do belong but not to yourself. You belong to a new community, a spiritual family, and to God Himself.

We are all searching for belonging, but we will not find belonging in this world nor inside of ourselves. We find belonging in Jesus and HIs Church.

Ephesians 2:11-22

Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Who you Were is far worse than you think.

Who you Are is far better than you think.

Who you are Becoming is beyond what you can imagine.

In this message Pastor Joey McLaughlin clearly preaches the gospel, and who you are in Christ as found in Ephesians 2:1-10.

In Ephesians 2:10-10 we find:

- Who you were: You were DEAD

- Who you are: You are ALIVE

- Who you are Becoming: An Eternal Masterpiece and Trophy of Grace

To be alive in Christ is to be loved, graced, saved, raised, with Christ, seated, secure, and eternal.

The beginning, middle, and end of the Christian life is about knowing God.

Knowing Jesus as savior is a beautiful beginning to your walk with God and you could spend the rest of your life growing in your knowledge of Him as Savior, but at the same time, there is so much more of God to know.

You’re invited to know Him as Friend, and Guide, and Father, and Provider, and Defender and Peace. The more you come to know God, the more rich and satisfying your life will be. And the more we know God, the better we know ourselves in our truest identity.

The lens or glass through which you view your life has a deep impact on who you are and who you’re becoming.

Do you know your identity IN CHRIST?

You are chosen and you are loved and you are blameless and you are adopted, redeemed, forgiven, lavished. You've got an inheritance. You are the praise of God's glory.

Two words that Paul uses to tie all of those words together. Two words that change everything for the Ephesians, in two words that can change everything for you and me. Two words that stand at the center of identity. Two words that are the greatest mystery in all of theology. If I could only tell you two words to help you understand your true identity, I would tell you these two words, just two words...

IN CHRIST

Why is it that every year we are sold on this opportunity for it to be a new year and a new us to only find that it's a new year, but the same us.

It's the same broken habits, the same broken systems, the same internal monologue, the same crushing insecurities, the same suffocating questions. Who am I?

Who do you think you are? Who do you really think that you are when you strip it all away? When you're laying in bed at night before you fall asleep? Or when you wake up in the dark of the morning and it's just you and there's no pretending, there's no masks.

In this sermon, Pastor Joey McLaughlin preaches through the baptism of Jesus and how we see the Father speak Identity into the Son.

"Joy is a decision to agree with God about the total story of my life. Joy is found when I remember the whole story."

- Joey Mclaughlin

This Christmas at Elevate City we celebrated the arrival of JOY in the birth of Jesus.

Undoubtedly, joy and Christmas are synonymous. How much joy do you feel in your spirit? How much joy are you living in? How much joy are you walking it? And I'm talking about beyond the Christmas season. I'm talking about every day of your life. How much joy are you going to bed in at night? How much joy are you driving to work to in the morning?

One thing is certain -- joy is available for you. This is the good news of the gospel. This is the good news of Christmas. Any person can be transformed into a joyful person.

Watch this message to hear about the JOY that Jesus offers.

“The Arrival of Peace”

This word “Peace” has become the theme of Christmas for people all around the world — it’s the word that gets plastered on billboards and put in greeting cards, it’s found on Christmas trees and its hanging over chimneys, it’s the word that no matter your religious background or beliefs is most associated with this season. For many, if we’re honest, the arrival of the Christmas season brings anything but peace.

In this message Pastor Joe preaches that true peace does not come from the absence of chaos in our lives but through the arrival of Jesus in our hearts and then a commitment to walk in His ways.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

There are four things that every human heart longs for hope, love, peace and joy.

At Advent, we celebrate the arrival of those things, those things breaking into humanity. In this sermon Pastor Joey preaches about the arrival of love and what I want for you to know is that behind all of your intellectual arguments and under your extremely tough exterior, what every human heart longs for is love.

You don't outgrow this, you can't outrun this, you can't outthink this. Humanity was built, designed, created, and desperate for love. What we desperately want for you to know in this message is that if you refuse to fill that place in your heart with the love of Jesus, then you will turn to broken people and broken places to try to fill it.

Instead, nothing can fill your heart like the love of Jesus. In this message, Pastor Joey preaches about the arrival of love, the advent of God's gift called love.
