Elevate City Church

This is more than an ending of the year.

Advent is a time of Hope. This hope is a hope where we stand between Jesus birth and his coming back again. We stand on the foundation of hope.

What you hope for actually shows what you live for. It shapes what you live for now.

Hope shapes your perspective on the world. It shapes how you see your past and things that have happened to you. It shapes how you anticipate your future.

In this message we kick off our series Advent -- unpacking the Hope that is found in Jesus.

We are not looking just at the end to the celebration of what happened in Jesus, but also the anticipation that he was coming back.

What if the first thing God commanded us to do in Creation, the last thing Jesus commanded on the mountain, is the first thing He asks us when he returns?

What if we took the great commission not as the great suggestion?

For 10 weeks our Church has unraveled our vision of "X- Multiply"; in this panel discussion you will hear from our Pastors more of the Heart and How of this 10 year mission.

In this message Pastor Joey Mclaughlin takes a deep dive into the vision of generously giving whatever it takes to see Jesus' Great Commission realized and to live into a story way bigger than ourselves because we know Jesus is infinitely worth it.

There’s almost no excuse for you to not love, be passionate about, and sacrificially give to the Church you’re apart of. Jesus doesn’t need it. He wants your heart fully surrendered to Him and totally set on His kingdom. I want you to know the thrill, the utter joy of not having your heart so tethered to this world but surrendered to Jesus and living for the world to come.

What comes into your mind when you think about Church?

Maybe you think a building, with a steeple and a cross.

Maybe a large auditorium with lights, a speaker and a band. Classic adage, not a building.

Maybe you think scandals. Or Christian celebrity. Maybe you think hurt. Or politics.

In this message, Pastor Joey McLaughlin prays we’ll find ourselves falling in love with the Church, we’d become like a little less critical of the Church, we’d be a little more careful how we talk about her, and we’d stop treating Church as a nice thing to do when it’s convenient.

WE must Multiply the Church.

There is a leadership crisis in the Church at large.

Pastors and leaders have left ministry at an alarming rate over the last decade. We believe much of that is due to a lack of effective leadership development. At Elevate City we want to equip future leaders with the spiritual rhythms, theological training, leadership skills and practical ministry experience to lead the Church forward.

The Church will face hard times in the days ahead. Culture will get darker, truth will be more opposed, and secularism will continue to rise. We need strong, deeply developed leaders to lead us through the storm. We feel a great sense of responsibility to develop the leaders who will pastor and lead in your children and grandchildren's Church.

Our Leadership Development Program is a 12-month residency adventure that is designed to equip future ministry leaders for Jesus-centered, discipleship-driven, & transformation-focused full-time ministry in the local church.

Our goal for the next 10 years is that we would see 100 people trained in that program.

In a world that is obsessed with the self, kids are painted in our culture often times as an inconvenience that can be taken care of. We pay to let someone else raise them, we distance them, and don’t let them

distract us from our goals and then wonder why there’s a generation that’s starving for attention.

But Jesus speaks with this bold proclamation: "I see Kids as of utmost importance."

Elevate City Church will always be a church that is hyper focused on making sure that every barrier is removed to get as many kids to the feet of Jesus that we can.

Pastor Joe's goal of this message is to help you see kids the way God sees kids, care for them the way God does, and give to see as many kids raised as disciple makers.

To help you see them as not just a part of the church, but essential to the lifeblood of the Church and the kingdom as a whole.

Mankind is glory hungry. In this message Pastor Joey McLaughlin talks about the nations, the world, and getting the gospel around the globe.

So, why can’t we have peace? Because peace won't be found when we’re in a war for glory. Every sin, every war, every difference that breeds division, every problem we see in the world has it’s root in a glory problem.

Humanity is trying to claim something that isn’t ours to be had -- GLORY. Glory belongs to the Lord…and God will not share his glory or his throne with another.

God’s will isn’t about getting Him on our agenda, but getting us on His agenda.

We cannot be obedient to the great commission in our generation without baptism front and center.

The early church saw God add to their number day by day those being saved (Acts 2:47). We long to see our commitment to prayer, disciple making and bold gospel conversations result in lost people coming to faith in Jesus every single day. There are 365 days in a year. If 10 years from now we see 365 baptisms annually across all our campuses this would symbolically represent that every day people are meeting Jesus.

For the next 10 years or as long as Jesus lets me be the pastor here we will be daily focused on seeing those far from God being raised to new life in Jesus. We want to be crazy farmers who refuse to get comfortable in our holy little huddles, who refuses to play it safe and just hunker down til the rapture comes. We believe that the reason we are still alive and still have breath in our lungs is so that those who don’t know can know. So those who haven’t met Jesus can meet Jesus and be raised to new life in Him.

We want to be so committed to being Jesus witnesses, so committed to making disciples, so committed to boldly communicating the gospel, to being crazy farmers, who tell the Jesus story that skeptics are becoming believers. Dead people are coming alive. Searching people are getting saved. Broken people are being made whole. Dirty people are having their sins washed white as snow by the blood of Jesus. And we want to be constantly celebrating that together publicly through Baptism. Which means everyone of you should have it as your goal, to be baptized and to disciple and baptize someone else.

What is the Gospel? Why does it matter? And how can you be changed by it?

Don't miss this powerful message from Pastor Joey on The good news of The Gospel.

We believe the bold proclamation of the Gospel still has power to save (Romans 1:16). We believe a necessary part of fulfilling the great commission is sharing the gospel (Matthew 24:14). We believe the primary way God saves is through the sharing and responding to the gospel message (Romans 10:9-13). Over the next 10 years we want to be obedient to engage in 344,869 Bold Gospel Conversations. It’s time to put the mission of Jesus back in the hands of everyday people.

Mark 1:14-15

Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Mark 16:15-16

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
