  • WHAT CHANGES THE WORLD - Joey McLaughlin - House of Prayer

    Matthew 9:35-38

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

    What changes the world?

    Prayer changes the world.

    Colossians 4:2-4

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— 4 that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.

  • POWER OF PRAYER - Joe Baker - House of Prayer

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-47)

What if you could move from a powerless routine of prayer to a power-filled relationship with prayer?

Acts 10:2 a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.

Prayer is the portal to experiencing the power of God in our lives.

Our prayers have power because we pray to the Omnipotent, all powerful, God.

We pray to God in power because the power of God dwells within us.

  • Why We Pray - Joey McLaughlin - House of Prayer

    Matthew 6:5-13

5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

10 Your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread,

12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

    Matthew 21:12-13

And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. 13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”

"Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools" - Tyler Staton

"Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" - Jim Cymbala

    Revelation 3:20

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”

    OUR FATHER

The primary purpose of prayer is not transactional it’s relational.

  • DO YOU LOVE ME - Joey McLaughlin - Questions From Jesus

In this series we've been looking at the Questions Jesus Asked in scripture. 339 questions Jesus asked, and this Sunday we look a question so important, he asked Peter three times, and we believe it's a question He is gonna ask you one day too.

    John 21:15-19

15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. 18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” 19 (This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.”

  • DID YOU NOT KNOW, I MUST BE IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE? - Joey McLaughlin - Questions From Jesus

In this series we've been looking at the Questions Jesus Asked in scripture. 339 questions Jesus asked, but this Sunday we look at the first recorded question Jesus asked. In Luke 2, when he asked "Why were you looking for me, did you not know I would be in my father's house?"

    Luke 2:41-52

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. 43 And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, 44 but supposing him to be in the group they went a day's journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances, 45 and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?”50 And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

“Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"

“...your father and I have been searching for you in great distress”

“...Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?”

  • WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT? (message that sparked 4 hours of worship and prayer) - Joey McLaughlin - Questions From Jesus

This series we're looking into some of the deepest, thought provoking questions Jesus asked in the Bible. Jesus asked 339 questions recorded in scripture and this week we're looking into the question "What Do You Really Want From Me."

    Mark 10:46-52

46 And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” 50 And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.

  • WHY DID YOU DOUBT? - Joe Baker - Questions From Jesus

In this series we're looking into some of the questions asked directly from Jesus himself. Jesus in the Bible asks people 339 questions. Last week we touched on the question "Who do you say that I am" and this week Pastor Joe unpacks the question Jesus asks Peter after Peter walked on water to Jesus. "Peter, why did you doubt."

22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24 but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

  • THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION EVER ASKED - Joey McLaughlin - Questions Jesus Asked

If you could ask God one question, what would it be? Think about that? One question to the Lord of Lords, The King of Kings, what would you ask. 2nd question, if God asked YOU one question, what would it be? Well that actually happened, a lot in the people, because in scripture Jesus asked 339 questions. But the most important question he ever asked is found in Matthew 16.

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

“Who do you say that I am?”

Who do you say that Jesus is?

Who do you live like Jesus is?

  • REAL FAITH - Joey McLaughlin - BeReal

    Mark 1:14-15

…Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

    Galatians 1:3-9

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—  not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

    Jeremiah 17:9

The heart is deceitful above all things

        and beyond a cure.

        Who can understand it?

    John 16:33

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

    John 14:6

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

    Romans 6:1-2

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

  • Real Friends - BeReal - Joey McLaughlin

For Jesus, friendship is not just a social accessory, its a spiritual and relational necessity.

The greatest recession we’ve seen in this country is not economic but relational. Many of us are bankrupt on relationships.

What if there is someone you are supposed to become, something you are supposed to do, a world you are supposed to live in, that will never happen, without real friends?

    Let's talk about real friends.

The Bible calls it friendship, but it also calls it “Koinonia” or Fellowship or One Anothering.

This is actually the second thing we see the early Church was devoted to after the Bible.

    Acts 2:42

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship

Let me hear you say fellowship!

The greek word is Koinonia - where we get our word community; a shared life together.

And the biblical vision for these relationships far superseded the shallow form of friendship offered to us by social media and modern life.

    Romans 12:9-21

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

    John 13:34-35

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
