March 21, 2022 The Rewrite, The Do Over, The Second Chance - Joey McLaughlin - Jonah 3
Do you ever wish that you could just have a rewrite on your story? Do you ever wish that God would just give you a second chance to start over again? In Jonah chapter 3 we see that Jonah gets a second chance from God to rewrite the story that he seemed to mess up. Jonah puts the pen into the hands of God and what God writes is so much more amazing than anything Jonah could of done on his own.

God gives Jonah a second chance and that second chance changes everything.

Jonah 3:3 "So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days' journey in breadth."

Jonah 3:4 Jonah began to go into the city, going a day's journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!”

Jonah 3:5 And the people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.
Jonah 3:10 When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

Luke 11:32 "The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here."

Mark 1:14-15 "Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Jonah finds himself in the belly of a whale and what does he do first? He prays to the Lord His God.

Jonah 2:1
"Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish…"

Prayer is always the right response of a runaway.
Prayer is surrender.
Prayer can pump the brakes on your inclination to run.
It's hard to run from God when you've learned to fall on your knees.

March 01, 2022 Anxious For Nothing - Eyes on the Shepherd - Joey McLaughlin
Anxiety is the most predominant form of mental illness in our country, plaguing both young and old, showing up as post-traumatic stress syndrome, obsessive compulsive disorder, even phobias and generalized anxiety disorder.

It can be as simple as feeling nervous & overwhelmed or as intense as having physical reactions like shaking, increased heart rate, shortness of breath, sweating, and crippling fear.

Culturally, we are a nervous wreck, and no one is immune to it.

Studies show that 86% of people consider themselves worriers.
People on average say they spend 1 hour and 50 minutes a day worrying.
That adds up to 13 hours a week
28 days a year
6 years of our life...worrying.

But what if you could be anxious for nothing?

John 10:10-11
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."

Galatians 5:1
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free."

Philippians 4:4
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice."

Philippians 4:5
"Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;"

Philippians 4:6
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
