Told that Kas’ dueling contract may be faulty, the party is abruptly whisked to Alpine’s Peak to await the results of a review. Kas gets to know more about the strange gifts he’s received. HJ gets to know more about arcane magic. Rowena gets to know Brutus. When a terrifying threat thrusts the world into chaos, the party must decide who they trust, and what sides they will take.

“Hey, have you guys ever, like, seen something and then kind of like...found your purpose before?”

With the first piece of HJ’s quest in hand, the party all begin to discover previously unknown powers they each possess. Kas opens up about his past to Rowena. HJ gets a glimpse of his clan’s history, and possible future, from his golden-clad spirit companion. Rowena has a revelation about Cor’s book and the secret journal she’s been studying. With the reappearance of several old acquaintances, the whole party starts to question when coincidence gives way to intention.

Finally encountering someone who might have answers about his strange powers, Lefty is given the cryptic task of “changing a life,” and asks to stay with the party as they attempt their cabbage-cactus heist. HJ struggles with the real weight of his quest. Rowena offers Kas some unexpected aid before retreating alone into her own concerns. Kas reaches the cusp of a revelation about his adventuring past.

Ambushed by terrible creatures on the road to Fallen Scale, the party is aided by the mysterious Lefty, a local legend who provides safe passage to travelers. Ghost Rising reappears to give HJ more information about his quest. Lefty tells the party about the Fates he’s met while trying to learn about his own strange powers. And of course, Fallen Scale’s never-before-beaten Biggest Burger eating contest brings out both some competitive streaks and some interesting results.

HJ learns some hard truths about his clan and pours his energy into trying to learn more about the Wizard Cor’s “forbidden magic.” Rowena withdraws further into her own dark worries. The party finally reunites physically, but after such a relentless barrage of bizarre events, cracks are beginning to surface in their strange Fate-forged bond...

While still working to recover Kas, Rowena and HJ have a series of other reunions, first with their mysterious Dwarven acquaintance Gee, and then with HJ’s Tabaxi mentor Ghost Rising. The pair also learn more about who Courtney really is, and what repercussions that might have for their party, only increasing Rowena’s hypervigilance and constant suspicion. HJ finally gains valuable information on the nature of his quest, but the truth may mean the end of his boundless optimism.

After seeing Kas vanish, the rest of the party rushes back to Aria, where they encounter a “friend” by the name of Courtney. Of course, Courtney is not what she seems, and the party quickly find themselves striking a deal to do her a strange errand in exchange for the return of Kas. HJ continues to cut his claws as an adventurer, but Rowena’s past continues to loom in their shadows as they race to recover their missing friend.
