Interesting tidbits . . . This podcast was inspired by the Elgin Watchman newspaper, which publishing in 1865 in Elgin, Illinois. Originally published under the name of the "Second District Democrat" by B.W. Staniforth, this publication became the "Elgin Chronicle," which became the "Elgin Watchman" and was owned by E.C. Kincaid. According to the authors of "History of Kane County," the Watchman was ultimately acquired by the "Elgin Gazette, which was later purchased and became the "Elgin Advocate." Today, there is a little known pocket park in downtown Elgin at the intersection of Spring & Chicago Streets honoring the Elgin Advocate newspaper and the proud journalism traditions of the late 1800s.Disclaimer . . .
