Elon Musk’s $44bn Twitter takeover has pleased Donald Trump – delighted he said that the social media company is in now what he describes as “safe hands” but it hasn’t pleased every Twitter user. The hashtag “delete” has been trending reflecting the fact that many people are now threatening to leave the site.

Referencing Twitter’s logo, Musk has said “the bird is freed” but does that mean that we can expect to see a rise in hate speech and far right politics?
