I firmly believe that the EYHS is a proven pathway to enlightenment. When I first started to create the EYHS which took over five years to produce, the process was created out of a extended meditation.
I originally named it HappCo’s Mindfulness Journey until one of my students made a major commitment to take her journey seriously and suck everything out of it. Then lo and behold she experienced a full blown enlightenment!
And to this day, she has maintained that state of being. What she achieved was the ability to maintain it. Her achievement was way beyond my wildest expectation. I could not believe it until I started to see its tremendously powerful and positive effects.
Someone I greatly respected asked me what Enlightenment is and I answered by saying, “Embracing the Higher Self”, and he said rename it to that. And I decided to rename the app and companion guide to Embracing Your Higher Self.
It is very hard to discern if the inner voices you hear are words of wisdom or not. When we look over the landscape of our consciousness, there are two primary sources. One is the Higher Self, which is who we truly are based upon love, and the other is our ego-mind that is our false sense of self based upon fear.
The ego-mind consciousness is in turmoil, and withdraws from reality into a defensive posture because It cannot function in reality which occurs only in the present moment. The value of meditation and especially this meditation, is that it helps you silence the ego-mind, and allow your Higher Self an opportunity to come through.
This is a true spiritual journey which I like to refer to as a “me search,” a journey within. Within us is our life energy, it is the spirit that gives us life. We are spiritual beings. And the search to find our true selves is a spiritual journey.
What makes this journey so complicated is that our consciousness is being overshadowed by a false sense of self that denies us the ability to easily feel our spirit. That is why connecting with our spirit is so difficult.
I feel the best way to understand what our spirit is all about is to experience what spirit feels like: that is love, compassion, joy, inner peace, and intuitive wisdom. These are the five key feeling components of the Higher Self and what the Higher Self is made of.
It is the feelings and the experience of spirit. When you learn to experience all of these components at the same time, you can embrace the Higher Self during the day and begin to live your life from your Higher Self, and not the ego-mind.
The human condition is caught up in a false sense of self that is referred to as our ego-mind which is based upon fear. This sense of self is an illusion. Our true self or "Higher Self" is based upon love.
So today we will do an ancient meditative practice entitled, the “Loving Kindness “ in order to help teach ourselves how to better experience love, and then be able to project it out into the world with greater energy.
Compassion is an innate key component that comprises our "Higher Self" and our feeling of compassion has no limit. When we think that we need to take care of only a few people in our lives like our family and close friends, and ignore others, we mistakenly think we can be all right.
That is an illusion. To fully take fully care of ourselves we need to take care of all of us, because the reality is that when one of us suffers, we all suffer.
In our spiritual journey, nurturing our innate ability to be compassionate, which is one of the five key components of our "Higher Self" allows us to expand our sense of caring to include all people.
I decided to start out our podcast focusing in on the downtrodden, because they are the forgotten ones in our society, the invisible ones.
This first meditation is on compassion. So lets begin.
