After 14 years of banging out conscious Afrikaans electro-rap, Bittereinder has hung up the gloves. I took my Zoom H1 recorder along to the final festival show of this band which has been such a foundational part of my life as an artist and thinker. I recorded my thoughts on the way to the show, and after the show, and you can also hear a hotel-room set-list-figuring-out-session, as well as some clips from the live show itself, recorded from within the audience.
A conversation with Swedish poet Sara Garib, then a conversation between Sara and SA poet Busi Mahlangu, and a poem by Sara (in Swedish first, and then in English, you tell me which one you understand better).
After a quick 8 month break, EMERGENCE returns with a good one: a conversation about creativity with multi-disciplinary artist and thinker Morne Venter, recorded on the infamous N1 highway in Gauteng, South Africa.
A live recording of a poetry-and-music performance with my friends Louwrens Ferreira and Phomolo Sekamotho (Flex of he & I), with a sad-and-not-entirely-sober epilogue about love and push-ups.
A ramble about emergence while driving in the rain, a reading of a poem in the park, some connecting thoughts from my home, and a eulogy-epilogue. Thus begins the Emergence Podcast.
