In this episode we hear of the experiences of Jake Wolf, Emergency Management Specialist for California Department of Education and Dr Craig Hansen, UARD. Jake Wolf is an Emergency Manager (EM) with a diverse background. Starting his early career with over a decade in fire and emergency medical services (EMS), he served in many different roles locally within the county EMS structure including continuous quality improvement programs and policy development. He has served in executive roles for private industries such as assisted living, memory care, service and maintenance, and more. His EM career includes state level public health EM as the Emergency Support Function 8 (Public Health and Medical) Liaison for the California Governors Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), Task Force Coordinator, Operations, and many others. As part of the Planning and Preparedness Branch at Cal OES, Jake was responsible for developing hazard specific annexes to State Emergency Plan, supporting the development of catastrophic plans, and the inception of many different Standard Operating Procedures, Guidelines, and Guidance for state and local government’s. Currently, Jake is the EM Specialist for the State of California’s Education Agency, servicing the largest state population of k-12 students in America and is creating the agencies Department Operations Center, as well as drafting the first of its kind, State level K-12 Education Emergency Operations Plan.
