November’s episode of Emerging Psychologist will feature news and announcements from around the APA that are relevant to graduate students and early career psychologists in clinical psychology.

October’s episode of Emerging Psychologist features a discussion about pre-doctoral internships and the application process with our president-elect, Dr. Kennetha Frye. Dr. Frye is a licensed psychologist in the Houston Independent School District, where she provides a range of services including crisis intervention and is responsible for the coordination and supervision of practicum students, pre-doctoral trainees, and post-doctoral fellows as well as crisis intervention with at-risk youth.

September’s episode of Emerging Psychologist contains announcements for graduate students and early career professionals in clinical psychology, as well as an interview with Dr. Aaron Sawyer about alternative career paths in clinical psychology. Dr. Sawyer, an early career professional, is currently a consultant and licensed clinical psychologist based out of Austin, TX with extensive experience in program evaluation and quantitative analysis.

Early Career Psychologist Spotlight- Daniel Kaplin, PhD

This episode features an early career psychologist spotlight on Daniel Kaplin, PhD. Dr. Kaplin received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Walden University in 2014. His dissertation explored the relationship between substance use and religiosity in the Jewish community. In addition to practicing psychotherapy part-time, he currently holds teaching positions at both the College of New Jersey and the College of Staten Island. Dr. Kaplin is also an active member in the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA), where he is an advocate for diversity issues and is a part of the initiative to grant prescriptive authority to clinical psychologists in the state of New York.
