One of the biggest voices on daytime radio, writer and broadcaster Emma B is the current occupant of the afternoon show on the London based station Magic. This is just the latest highlight in a glittering career in music broadcasting which has spanned four decades. Her mother secured her radio debut at the extraordinary age of just seven on BBC Radio Oxford alongside the broadcasting maverick Timmy Mallett offered the young Emma the perfect grounding in the medium she would go on to dominate throughout her career. Similar to Emma’s radio hero Kenny Everett, Mallet’s zany, cheeky and extremely creative persona struck a chord with her as she had found her dream job and was learning from one of the best in the business. Appearing alongside Mallet in a radio drama entitled Prince Timmy and the Golden Tranny playing the part of Princess Zinc. Mallet was to have a dominant influence on the young Emma and gave her the tools to refine her own broadcasting style. He taught her the vital lesson of how to find the funny in every given situation which has remained with her throughout her career. Growing up in Birmingham and surrounding areas during the seventies and eighties, Emma found herself at the epicentre of a movement which was just about to take over the world.
