1 Peter 1:22-25

A RESCUED PERSON IS :

-Able to identify what is Worthy (vertical; last week)

-Able to freely love others and do good deeds (horizontal)

One Command

1. Love one another fervently

(John 13:34-35; 1 John 4:20-21)

Fervently = earnestly; effort AND endurance

Two Supports

1. Purified by Obedience to the Truth

(1 Peter 1:2; John 17:17; Matthew 28:19-20)

2. Born Again by the Word of God

(1 Peter 1:3; John 3; 1 Corinthians 15:42; Daniel 6:26-27)

One Caution

1. Love (and Faith and Words) without Action is dead

Titus 2:14- Christ Jesus…gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Rescued people who are purified by obedience to the truth and born again through the power of God’s Word will be generous with love and zealous for good deeds.

Two Suggestions

1. Practice saying, “I love you, and…”, not, “I love you, but…”

Ephesians 4:15- speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

2. Learn to say, “Everything we have is from God; everything we have is for God.”
