Often people aren't aware of exactly what emotional intelligence is and how it affects their life.

Emotional Intelligence, often shortened to EI or EQ (Emotional Quotient), was first mentioned in 1964 although become widely popular by the best selling book Emotional Intelligence by science journalist, Daniel Goleman.

Often referred to as 'soft skills' (ah don't get me started), they are particularly hard skills and characteristics to develop. We'll be answering questions such as -

    What is emotional intelligence?

    Why is emotional intelligence important?

  • 10. How Do I Motivate Other People?

Melissa Curran CEO and Founder of the Modern Mind Group talks about Emotioneering Motivation for other people.

We often ask "how can I motivate other people?"

It's one thing to motivate ourselves, It's another thing to attempt to motivate others. So on this podcast today on this episode, we're going to be exploring how we help to motivate others. What we can do and what strengths and techniques we can use to help them stay motivated to whatever their goal is.

One thing to remember when it comes to motivating others is that they do not have to listen to a word you say. Not a sausage! Not a bean! They don't have to listen to you. And that's because you don't control them. You're often not their boss. If you think about how we can positively influence other people, it's not through control.

We'll be answering questions such as -

Where do I start when it comes to motivating others?

Why aren't they doing what I recommend?

    What actually motivates people?

What has the fight or flight response got to do with motivating people?

How well do I need to know the person?

    Isn't it just common sense?

    How do I inspire others?

Can't they just do it by themselves?

  • 8. How Can I Motivate Myself?

Melissa Curran CEO and Founder of the Modern Mind Group talks about Emotioneering Motivation for yourself.

We often ask "how can I motivate myself?"

First of all, when it comes to motivation, it's to understand that we're going to make mistakes and things are going to go wrong. We have to create an environment where it's okay to fail where it's okay to try something, but we have to be great at being able to pick ourselves back up when maybe we fall off the horse, or things didn't go to plan, or we weren't consistent.

Then we stop being consistent because that's what happens, as individuals, as people, as human beings, we're not machines. We're not engineering, we're emotioneering. And that's what we're looking at when it comes to motivation. So remember, it's about picking yourself back up. It's not how many times you fall.

    We answer...

    1. Does it matter when I do something?
  • How do I overcome task paralysis?
  • What is one quick way I can be motivated today?
  • Do you know what you really want?
  • Is looking at the consequences a good tactic?
  • How can I keep being consistent and not lose focus?
  • What is goal setting?
  • How will I know I am doing well?
  • Am I too old to start?
  • I thought it would be different, why do I stop once I start?
