The Inland Empire is one of the biggest hubs for logistics, also known as goods movement, in the nation, with scores of retailers locating their warehouses in the region. How that concentration of warehouses is affecting air pollution and people's health was the subject of a recent cover story in GRIST, an online magazine that covers the environment. An investigation continued today into what police called a “long and horrific gun battle” in south Riverside that led to the death of the suspect and a California Highway Patrol Officer. The shooting occurred Monday evening, in the area of Box Springs Boulevard and Eastridge Avenue, just west of Interstate 215. CHP Officer Andre Moye had pulled over a pickup truck for a violation when the suspect pulled a weapon and opened fire on the officer, according to the CHP. Moye made a distress call
