Proverbs tells us to be generous with the poor. God is watching. But our proverb today reminds us that not only might we someday have a need, but right now others are watching our lack of charity and they might not come to our need should we ever need help. Ouch.

They can take the path of the wise, or unfortunately choose the way of the fools. We can all help them with that path choice by our guidance and instruction and example.
