We may already know that faith in Jesus is what saves us, but have you ever wondered if your faith is legit? As we begin a new series of “Intimacy,” this sermon will look into the book of 1 John, a book written by John who proclaims Jesus as the son of God who we find life in his name. In this sermon, we will specifically see how repentance is a pathway to deeper intimacy with God, and continue throughout the series to explore the central theme of how we are created for intimacy with God.

We all have an intrinsic desire to achieve great things, which leads us to take up great challenges that require various forms of labor. As we hustle through life and face hardships, we can easily lose sight of what we are enduring all this labor for. Is it for the glory of God? Or is it for the glory of ourselves? How can we say there is justice when the wicked prosper with wealth while the lowly suffer? One of the greatest lies that we believe is that our life is eternal; yet no worldly possession is everlasting. But when we seek out the portion of God rather than the World’s, our final destination changes. In this sermon, we look into the futility of worldly wealth and the contrastingly everlasting value of God, which can give us eternal wealth and fulfillment.
