To this Church, byte Church of opportunity the Lord promised that He alone would put them on solid ground. He would make them as pillars in the heavenly city of New Jerusalem... it’s a reward that awaits every believer.

Jesus promised the Christians in Philadelphia an open door of ministry…He would open it for them. Not only that, but He also said He would cause their Jewish tormentors to worship Him, at their feet. Don’t fear the enemy, they all have to answer to God.

We know this was a small church, but. Successful Church. This was a Church that had great opportunities because of its location. See how Jesus utilizes their location, to their advantage

Jesus has a strong word for the Church here. He tells them to Guard those thing that are about to die, but the way in which He tells them to do that is by resurrecting the memories of the earlier successes. A fitting word for us all today.

 This is the only Church Jesus didnt commend. The others all were commended for their works. They thought they were alive and powerful. Jesus set them straight. he said plainly ... Thou art Dead.

As we see once more Jesus dealing with sin in His Church, we also discover why He does this. CHAPTER 2 verse 23 “…. And all the Churches shall know that I am He such searcheth the reins and hearts”. Jesus is constantly watching over his Churches, closely, intently. It proves His great love for us.

Like the other Churches in Revelation, Thyatira had both successes and failures. They were great in their love and their service and they were full of works and patient endurance. Yet, once again Jesus needed to address a very particular problem here in this Church

As the Head of His Church, Jesus not only Grows and Blesses and Nurtures us, but He also chastises and rebukes and punishes us. At Pergamos, He came with harsh judgment, yet, even in the midst of that, His precision like surgical strike protected those that were not guilty.

Revelation 2:12-18

Jesus Christ loves His Church. More than we can ever know. But He loves it with a love that’s perfect and perfect love has judgment. When people brought in false doctrines and false teachers, it put Jesus in a position where He had to defend His Church, He had to protect His Church. He still does so today.
