As we see once more Jesus dealing with sin in His Church, we also discover why He does this. CHAPTER 2 verse 23 “…. And all the Churches shall know that I am He such searcheth the reins and hearts”. Jesus is constantly watching over his Churches, closely, intently. It proves His great love for us.

Like the other Churches in Revelation, Thyatira had both successes and failures. They were great in their love and their service and they were full of works and patient endurance. Yet, once again Jesus needed to address a very particular problem here in this Church

As the Head of His Church, Jesus not only Grows and Blesses and Nurtures us, but He also chastises and rebukes and punishes us. At Pergamos, He came with harsh judgment, yet, even in the midst of that, His precision like surgical strike protected those that were not guilty.

Revelation 2:12-18

Jesus Christ loves His Church. More than we can ever know. But He loves it with a love that’s perfect and perfect love has judgment. When people brought in false doctrines and false teachers, it put Jesus in a position where He had to defend His Church, He had to protect His Church. He still does so today.

Revelation 2:12-18

Between Balaam and the Nicolaitans, Pergamos was besieged by compromising doctrines. Jesus promised to fix this problem, and it wasn’t going to be pretty. Jesus hates compromise in His Church, and, He doesn’t put up with it for long.

Revelation 2:12-18

Pregamos, known as the compromising Church, yet this was a strong Church with radically transformed Christians. Sure they had saints within that held to compromising Doctrines but at the end of the day, this is the Church that God chose to send into the midst of Satans stronghold, they had heroes such as Antipas who led the assault on satans kingdom.

The Church at Smyrna was called the persecuted Church....and rightly so.Those who called themselves Jews stirred the pagan society to great acts of persecution against them. Yet, there was a more accurate description of the saints at Smyrna. They were the Heroic Church. Heroes went to that Church, as they gave glory to God not only in life, but in death as well.

Jesus told the saints at Ephesus that He hated the deeds of the Nicolaitanes. He then commended them for doing the same. Let’s look at those deeds and learn how they have crept into today’s Church culture as well
