Jose Laurenço is the Canadian filmmaker behind the new hit Young Werther. Based off the novel by Johnann Wolfgang von Goethe and shot in Hamilton and Toronto, the film stars Douglas Booth, Alison Pill, Iris Apatow, and Patrick J. Adams. It was releassed on January 10th.

For years, Michael Polish made films with his twin brother Mark, with Michael often behind the camera, and Mark in front, and both being credited as writer. He also worked solo for the last decade or so, including his new film, the spy-thriller Alarum starring Scott Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone. It is available January 17th.

It's the first show of the new year!!

And what better way to kick things off then by talking about the future! Specifically, the year 3477. That is the year when Aladdin 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom takes place.

It is the new feature film by one Matt Busch. If you're a fan of Star Wars, have you probably seen Busch's work. He designed the poster for Revenge of the Sith, as well as Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, has his own droid named after him, and is even an honorary member of the 501st legion. He was also handpicked to draw former president Barack Obama.

We talk about Aladdin, filming a trilogy, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Keanu Reeves, becoming a droid, and so much more. He also answers the most important Star Wars question of all: prequel trilogy or sequel trilogy.

Aladdin 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom was released on VOD and Digital on January 3rd.

Jeremy Pahl is a musician, singer-songwriter and member of Ts'msyen first nation. For years, Jeremy has performed music under the name Saltwater Hank. He also spent that time learning Sm'algyax, the traditional language of his people. He is now choosing to retire the Saltwater Hank name and will be announcing a new musical venture and name; one where only sings in Sm'algyax. Jeremy talks about what lead him to this point, language reclamation projects among indigenous communities, stereotypes, visibility, and whether or not settlers can tell stories with Indigenous characters.

Josh Wiggins and Dash Mihok both star in the new action film Armor, where they play opposite Jason Patric and Sylvester Stallone. The film follows a father and son who work for a bank, whose armoured truck gets held hostage by thieves on the trail of bold bars. In separate interviews Josh and Dash talk about what it was like working with Sly, the father-son story, the action genre, working with co-stars who weren't there and gun safety. We also get into mental health and directing.

Chuck Hayward is a screenwriter who has worked on such shows as WandaVision, Ted Lasso, Mixed-Ish, and Dear White People. He recently wrote the feature Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead, a remake of the 1991 cult classic. Chuck talks about the impetus for making the film, staying true to the original, race swapping, Gen Z lingo, and having Nicole Richie read his lines!
