So in episode 20, Dan throws his toys out the pram regarding Gatland's decision to invite the whole of Wales to join the tour, plus we look at the Lions record win over the Maori's as they make their final preparations for the 1st Test on the 24th June. Who cemented their place, who's final bid landed on deaf ears - find out by downloading now. Enjoy
Today we're discussing the game between the Highlanders and The Lions. Not the most exciting game with plenty of errors, but another test-light squad meant opportunities for players to stand up. Did they? Not really. CJ Stander is probably nailed on and some of front row perhaps cemented places, but the back three is still wide open as are the centres (depending on how they choose to include Farrell). Also, whats to become of tour captain Sam Warburton? Our opinions differ on him so check out the episode to find out more and see our Test 23 predictions (they;re at the end!) Please remember to rate and review us on iTunes so we keep getting noticed - thanks and enjoy.
We take a look at England's first test of their 2017 summer tour to Argentina, a game that may have been full of errors but may just end up being the most entertaining game you'll see this year. In the second of our "live-ish" episodes, we give you pre, half-time and full-time analysis of what happened, from the error-ridden first half, to the 2 tries conceded in as many minutes and of course the Solomona wonder try that ultimately clinched victory from the jaws of defeat. All this and more in episode 18 as we continue to follow the future world champions en route to the 2019 rugby world cup.
In this Lions Special episode we look at the last of the first three mid-week games (the ones where everyone is guaranteed a start) and see what a difference a closer to full strength side can make, compared with a slightly weaker mid-week side. Can the Lions win the test series - the Blues game would suggest not, but the Crusaders game have posed a series of questions both of Warren Gatland and the AB's. Two vastly different performances but the Loins are back on winning form with certain players suggesting its time that Warren and the selection committee get out the ink. Enjoy and don't forget to rate and review us on iTunes. Thanks
The Lions tour is finally underway and first up they had to take on the might of the unknown, and on paper, very average NZ Provincial Barbarians. Turns out they were anything but average. A narrow 13-7 victory has left the Lions very red faced and we've covered it all in episode 16. Check it out, drop us a review on iTunes and tune in every week for all the Lions latest as well as the England tour to Argentina. We're the England Rugby Pod, the rugby podcast that believes England will win the World Cup in 2019. We also love the Lions!!!
This week, we're talking all things 'Big Billy' and of course that means discussing the latest big news - Billy's shoulder injury that's seen him withdraw from the Lions Tour. So we've called up the 'Pod Doc' Dr James Young, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon from Kent, to talk to us about what it all means and when we might see Billy back in action. Having spent time pitch side with 2 professional Australian rugby franchises, he's more than qualified to give us some medical insight, even if it is still just opinion as the facts of Billy's injury remain private. Join us to hear our thoughts and to check out past episodes of the England Rugby Pod, the rugby podcast that believes England will win the World Cup in 2019 and please don;t forget to rate and review us on iTunes - it how we get noticed. Enjoy
In Episode 14, with Dan away in Spain, we've called in friend of the pod Ben Cooper to join Andy in discussing the game as it happens (kind of). This is a new format for the pod so its a little experimental, but hopefully it will continue to tick the right boxes. We'll ask what these youngsters need to do to get noticed, whether they succeed and we'll analyse the game in all our amateur glory. Join us and don't forget to check out past episodes of the England Rugby Pod, the rugby podcast that believes England will win the world cup in 2019.
We're at episode 13 and this week its all about Anthony Watson, the England speedster with the 50% try scoring record. "If he doesn't score this week, he'll score next week". Check out what we've found out about the man, how he reached the dizzy heights of becoming a British & Irish Lion and where we think he'll be come Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan. All this and more in our brand new episode - enjoy.
Dan's back from Cyprus, LA and Las Vegas so he's here with Andy to talk about last weeks Rugby World Cup Pool Draw and what it means for England's route to the 2019 final. We look at the likely additions to Pool C (USA & either Tonga or Samoa) as well as how and why we expect to meet Ireland in a first ever Northern Hemisphere only final. Andy's already predicting England to win by 12 vs Ireland on 2nd November 2019 in Kanagawa, Japan. With Dan away enjoying the sunshine is Los Angeles, it falls to Andy to share the draw for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan (the one England are going to win!). Drawn in Group C, probably the toughest group in the competition, England will have their work cut out for them from the off, but we have faith and we'll discuss the impact of this draw in more detail once Dan is back with us. In the meantime, here are the facts - could we see an England vs Ireland final - who knows...
