Imagine you walk into a big grocery store. You can smell many wonderful things, like baked bread, roses, fresh herbs, ripe raspberries, and chocolate chip cookies. And then, you smell something gross. What could it be? What smells so rotten? Welcome to the cheese aisle, where all kinds of stinky cheeses wait for you.
Not all cheeses reek. Some, like cheddar and mozzarella, have almost no smell. To make cheese, bacteria is added to milk. Sometimes, the bacteria gives the cheese a very pungent smell. Limburger, blue, and camembert are all famous stinky cheeses. They might smell bad, but some cheese lovers can’t get enough of them!
