Thomas Traherne, 1637-1674, born in Hereford, England, was a poet and writer of religious works. He was ordained a minister of the Church of England. For nearly two hundred years his writings had remained in manuscript until their were finally published in 1908. This particular section of the meditations concerns the visionary nature of childhood.
