  • Practice Being It | ETHX 079
With fall approaching and children going back to school, I'm reminded of my own days in school.
Like a lot of students, certain subjects came easier than others.
Math and science weren't my strong suits.
I remember practicing a lot of problems and still not really understanding what I was doing or getting as high of grades as I wanted to.
When I think back, I only remember practicing "doing" the problems and working to understand the theory behind what I was doing.
I don't remember ever practicing "being", or putting effort into developing the self-concept that would support success in those areas and others.
As a big proponent of using our imagination to develop a successful state of being, in addition to practicing doing the things we want to improve at, let's talk about the importance of practicing being the thing as well.
    Quote of the Week:
You'll improve faster in whatever you're doing if, in addition to practicing doing it, you also practice being it.”

  • What Did You Come Here To Do? | ETHX 078
To win the game of life, you have to know what to do.
In fact, knowing what to do is more than half the battle.
But before you can know what to do, you first have to know yourself.
Knowing yourself is the key to knowing where you should invest your life energy to not only realize the most happiness, joy, and fulfillment, but also the most prosperity and abundance for yourself.
Like every other human being on earth, you are unique.
    You have a unique mission.
To find out what your mission is, you have to ask your higher self,
"What did I come here to do?"
Nobody else can do what you came here to do.
Not in the same way anyway.
So, there's no competition for you when you're doing what you came here to do.
When you're not doing what you came here to do, there's plenty of competition.
Because plenty of people aren't doing what they came here to do.
They're doing what everyone else is doing.
    In this episode, you'll discover:
    The importance of knowing yourself
How to tune in to what you came here to do
Questions to help you uncover your unique purpose and path in life
My story and why I do what I do (maybe it will resonate with you)

Don't ask what the world needs.  Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.  Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ~ Howard Thurman

I think sometimes that’s one of the biggest things that stops people is they think they have to have everything figured out before they start something and a lot of times you don't.  You’ve got to kind of learn as you go along.  I know at least for me experience has been my best teacher because a lot of the things I’m doing I had no idea what I was doing.  It just takes a lot of work to get there.” ~ Jeremy Ryan Slate

  • So, What Do You Know? (Questioning The Biggest Authority) | ETHX 076
Have you ever stopped to think about what you know?
I'm talking about those assumptions you've accepted to be true for as long as you can remember?
If not, maybe now is a good time to do some spring (or fall) cleaning and dump them all out on the floor so you can examine them to find out if something you know has been holding you back in some area of your life.
Since we're all creating our own individual experiences through our perceptions, this exercise can help you find out if your perceptions are aligned with the experiences you want to have in life.
    In this episode, you'll discover:

  • Feeling Is The Key And This Is The Focusing Question | ETHX 075
We're all familiar with the power of focus.
In the game of life, focus is perhaps the primary factor in creating the circumstances we want.
Whatever we focus on, we activate, and whatever we activate in our consciousness and in our state of being will eventually show up in our experience.
If focus is the method, feeling is the mechanism.
Feeling is the key that unlocks the door to the experiences and circumstances we want.
I've written about the importance of feeling and manifesting the experiences we want in life before, and shared some of the messages from manifestation masters.
In this episode of the podcast, it's all about using the key of feeling to help us unlock the experiences we want.
    In this episode, you'll discover:
Why it's important to feel good as often as possible
A resource to help you transform feelings of sadness and suffering into feelings of happiness and joy
How to focus your thinking (and your feelings) on the circumstances and experiences you want

  • Who Do You Want To Be In The Game Of Life? | ETHX 074
I'll take any opportunity to talk about being.
And, on today's show, that's just what we're gonna do :)
The inspiration for this week's show came from the movie, Ready Player One.
Set in the year 2045, most everyone on earth escapes their lives, and the mess the real world is in, by going to a virtual reality Universe called the OASIS.
As you can imagine, this movie was filled with ideas that parallel the human experience.
    In this episode, you'll discover:
The formula Hollywood uses over and over again to create compelling story lines we just can't get enough of
Why real life is the ultimate virtual reality game, and how we can learn to play it consciously
Why everything we do and have in life flows from our conditioned state of being
How cause and effect govern our experiences
Tools and resources you can use to help you become the person who can have the experiences you want in life.

  • Feeling Apathetic? 3 Quick Ways To Reinspire Yourself – ETHX 073
Do you sometimes lose your inspiration?
    I do.
And, you know what, from listening to successful people share their stories, they do too.
Just like renewing our mind and body every day, renewing our inspiration is so important to realizing our goals and dreams in life!
Because renewing our inspiration is so important, I thought I'd share three of my favorite ways to do it in the hopes that you might find one or more of these ways helpful on your own journey.
    Here they are:
Think about the journey's of other successful people.  Print or save digital pictures of successful people who's stories resonate with you.  Maybe they're in your field, and maybe they're not.  I find a lot of inspiration in people that are on vastly different paths than I am in life.  I like to print 4x6 pictures at my local Kinkos/FedEx and keep them in a stack on my desk or put them on my wall.  Whenever I need a boost of inspiration, I go through the stack and pick a few and lay them out on my desk.
Think about the grand vision you have for your business and/or your life.  Think about why you're doing what you're doing.  It helps to go beyond just thinking about it or visualizing it and really feel that you are being, doing, and having what you desire right now.  Make it feel real by smelling it, hearing it, seeing it, etc.  The more real you can make the experience, the deeper you'll impress your creative mechanism (your imagination and subconscious mind) and the faster you'll find yourself living your vision.  Whatever we impress consistently, will be eventually be expressed.
Think about your past accomplishments.  Spend some time thinking about and re-living your past accomplishments.  If it helps, get out a pen and paper and make a list of all the challenges you've already overcome in your life.  Include on your list any goals you've ever set for yourself and then achieved.  This is a really powerful exercise, and one I feel is often overlooked.
I hope these ideas help you the next time you need a little inspiration!

  • The Conscious Qwest For More | ETHX 072
More sometimes gets a bad rap.  And rightly so.
I mean, we've all been there, right?
We spend all sorts of time, money, and energy chasing more of something with the hopes that it will make us feel happier and more fulfilled, only to find that it didn't, and now we feel even worse than when we started the chase in the first place.
If we're not conscious of what we really want from life, we can make the mistake of thinking, "Well, maybe if I just chase harder, I'll find that happiness and joy I'm looking for!"
Of course, this kind of thinking can head us down the road that leads right to the big "B"...B.U.R.N.O.U.T.
    And, nobody wants that.
That's why it's so important to remind ourselves that it's not the qwest for more that's the problem, it's what we define as the more that is really critical.
Because, let's face it, the desire for more, including more growth and expansion is the nature of everything in the Universe, including the human experience.
The problem is, what more are we chasing?
    Is it more things?
    More titles?
More money? (which isn't necessarily a bad thing)
    More status?
    More likes? :)
    Or, is it...
    More satisfaction?
    More service?
    More fulfillment?
    More rich experiences?
    More connection with others?
    More appreciation?
    More growth?
It's all about choosing wisely what the more is that we're chasing.
So, if you aren't finding the happiness and fulfillment you're looking for, maybe it's time you reassess what exactly is is you're chasing?
You might find that a pivot is in order.

  • Carmen Phillips On The Joy Of Doing Humanitarian Work – ETHX 071
On this week's episode of the podcast, my niece, Carmen Phillips, joins me to share her recent experience in Cambodia doing Humanitarian work through Youthlinc and Utah State University.
It was so great having Carmen on the show.
After hearing about her experience in Cambodia, I thought a lot about what Tracy L'Herisson shared with us in episode 037 of the podcast.
If you recall, Tracy and other Transcendental Meditation practitioners traveled to Cambodia during the rein of the Khmer Rouge to participate in group meditation there.  Their goal was to help alleviate some of the suffering in the region by bringing a level of coherence to the collective field of consciousness during that horrific time period.
Before the interview, Carmen and I talked about what direction we wanted to go with the show.
As you can imagine, she had a lot of emotionally charged experiences while she was there, like visiting The Killing Fields Museum.
Rather than focus on these experiences, we chose to focus on the positive things that groups like Youthlinc and other humanitarian organizations are doing in the area to help the Cambodian people.
In addition to giving us a glimpse into the work they did there, Carmen talked about the joy she experienced from connecting with the Cambodian people and helping them improve their village and their lives.
I came away from this interview with a new perspective on the region and feeling very fortunate to live in The United States where we have opportunities and luxuries that aren't available in other parts of the world.
I was filled with lot's of gratitude and appreciation, that I'm sure will stick around for quite some time.
Thank you Carmen for sharing your experience with us!

  • The Best Teacher In The World | ETHX 070
Warren Buffett said, "The more you learn, the more you earn."
While Mr. Buffett is obviously talking about money here, we could easily look at it from a broader perspective and say that the more we learn about any area of our lives, the richer our experiences will be in that area.
Whether it's health, wealth, or success in general, learning is obviously the vehicle that will help us enhance our experiences in that area.
If this is the case, we've got to ask ourselves, what's the best teacher?
Because, having the best teacher will help us arrive at the best experiences much faster.
I mentioned on my Instagram the other day that there will be heavy doses of irony in this week's podcast, and there certainly is.
    Why?
Because, it turns out that the best way to enhance our experiences in life, isn't by listening to a podcast on enhancing experiences (insert frowny face here), it's by actually taking action and doing the things we want to get better at.
As painful as it is for me to say...
    The best teacher is experience.
Now, before you tune out and get into action-taking mode, hear me out.
While nothing teaches like experience, it's important to learn from one another and share the tools, techniques, and practices that will help us on our journey.
That is, after all, why I launched the podcast in the first place; to share best practices for living.
To come together and share our experiences about what works and what doesn't so we can save each other time, energy, and money.
And, more importantly, pave the way for future generations to go further, faster, when it comes to understanding and working with consciousness.
Because, the history of humanity is nothing more than one big awakening, or deepening of understanding about the best ways to be healthier, wealthier, and more successful.
Because of this new understanding about the value of experience, a while back I came to the conclusion that so many others have before me, that to improve our lives it was imperative to just stay in constant action-taking mode and simply live in a perpetual state of doing.
Not thinking about doing, or preparing to do, but actually doing.
Some call this a flow state.
It turns out that the most successful people are also the ones who have had the most experiences to reflect on.
They have failed the most, and that's why they've succeeded.
