With rapid rise of 'New Age' spirituality, term "shadow work" has become a loosely thrown around marketing word, but what is Shadow Work really? Why is it important? Why is it generally avoided among people on their path to enlightenment? Can we skip shadow work and still grow spiritually? 

In my opinion, absolutely not. Having the courage to look within the dark corners of our soul and acknowledging the demons our wounded inner child adopted to feel safe while coping with the external world takes time and faith; but the freedom which comes from the other side makes healing so worth it.
