We have a few qualms about the 60th annual Grammy Awards ceremony. Features Editor Brenda Shoffner and Reporter Annie Blanks felt as if female musicians were snubbed. There weren’t as many female nominees, and Album of the Year Nominee Lorde didn’t have the opportunity to give a solo performance. Shoffner also felt James Corden was a mediocre host. Features Reporter Savannah Evanoff enjoyed Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga’s strong opening performances. She also couldn’t take her eyes off of audience member Chrissy Teigen’s sparkling dress. Sports Editor Seth Stringer was confused about why Kendrick Lamar’s “Damn” didn’t win Album of the Year; Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” didn’t win Song of the Year, and we’re all confused about why Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” took home Best Pop Solo performance.

Movies and TV shows just can’t seem to get it right when they portray the role of journalists. Features Editor Brenda Shoffner points out how in some movies, journalists are portrayed as vile, such as in “Ace in the Hole.” Features Reporter Savannah Evanoff brings up how romantic comedies destroy the reputation of female journalists, such as in “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and the Netflix movie “A Christmas Prince.” Reporter Jennie McKeon explains how journalism isn’t quite so glamorous. Sports Editor Seth Stringer mentions comedies such as “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” which give the career a humorous spin. We complete the episode by paying each other compliments for National Compliment Day.

The movie “The Post,” featuring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, released Jan. 12. The plot follows Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and Editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks) as they expose a government cover-up in The Washington Post and battle for freedom of the press. Guest co-host News Reporter Annie Blanks joins us to discuss what we like and don’t like about the film.
