  1. I don’t qualify to use a financial planner
  2. Financial advisors and planners are too expensive
  3. I can use a robo-advisor like Vanguard or Schwab and do well enough
  4. I don’t need to be concerned with taxes until I am closer to retirement
  5. I can plan by buying term insurance and investing the difference in index funds
  6. Advisors are only for those looking to retire soon
  7. I should wait for “xx life event” before speaking with someone
  8. I’ll spend less and pay fewer taxes in retirement, so I won’t need as much income
  9. Medicare will cover my health care needs in retirement
  10. Bad things don’t happen to good people, invincibility complex
  11. Investment rates of return will be my measure of success
