But this text isn't just for the fools. Paul, in Romans, uses it to show that all people, Jews and Gentiles, are sinners. There is no one righteous before God and no one with understanding. Not a soul seeks after God. This text should cause us to at least ask follow-up questions to those who say we all have a God-shaped hole in us that we are trying to fill. This passage in Romans also does away with the faulty concept that mankind is basically good for we read, "no one does good, not even one." Paul does go a bit overboard in Romans 3 and quotes multiple Old Testament texts to prove his point.
