Psalm 40 points us again to Jesus. I'm not sure we should be surprised at this point. In fact, if we are still surprised that the Bible directs us again and again to the person and work of Jesus, we might not be paying close enough attention. Four verses of this particular Psalm are quoted in Hebrews 10 and point us back to Exodus 21 from Episode 35. Jesus is the servant who submitted himself willingly to the Father. Jesus' death was the epitome of servanthood. Christ has revealed to the great congregation the gracious work of God the Father. You are reading these words today because of Jesus's testimony about God in heaven and righteousness through him. You and I are both evidence of the continued work and grace of God brought about through Jesus, the greatest servant.
