The raw, unfiltered version of yourself is wanting to be unveiled. Whether you are just thinking about quitting your job to start a business or you have a side hustle you are building while you work full time, navigating the transition is challenging. 

When you’ve been in your career for a long time, there is a certain version of yourself who shows up.

I call her, Corporate Barbie.

You know, the polished, perfectly curated, version of yourself? The one who caters to the needs and expectations of others while doing everything possible to show up primp and proper…

I’m not saying this from a place of perfection. In fact, I’m sharing this from a very vulnerable place. As I shared on the episode, I decided to show up super sloppy and messy on this episode. Letting you in on how imperfect and frankly, untidy my launch of my new blog was going. 

As I’ve journeyed through escaping the corporate world for almost 2 years, I realized the version of me who portrayed a certain type of image in my former career kept showing up unannounced and uninvited. For you, at the beginning of your pivot, you might struggle to embrace the truth of having to let go of a past version of yourself.

The power of showing up messy and authentically is more moving then a perfectly curated experience. It would feel fake and inauthentic. Which is the last thing you need as you make decisions to transition from a traditional job into entrepreneurship. 

My hope is that my vulnerability inspires you to take one step no matter how sloppy and imperfect it is. The ripple effect is you showing up and someone silently watching you feels inspired to act on their desires. Giving yourself permission empowers them to give themselves permission and step outside of their comfort zone.
