Seaweed was an American band from Tacoma, Washington who was active throughout the 1990s. Their style of music is a combination of various rock sub-genres, including grunge and post-hardcore.

I heard about these guys back in the mid-90s when my good buddy Bob Bikel had their CD and I heard Start With. When I started to play bass, the beginning of this song was one of the first things I figured out how to play without tablature even though it was on guitar.

I got Aaron on the Skype and this is what we talked about:

  • The early 90s Tacoma scene
  • His thoughts on playing in Seattle at the time
  • Being on Sub Pop Records
  • Free records for life from Sub Pop
  • Flannel shirts
  • His thoughts on their record Spanaway
  • The story about the green lighter on Spanaway
  • And a ton more

This starts off with us talking on his computer and then I had to call him so the audio is all over the place. And then in the middle, he had to jump off so we continued the conversation a week later.

Check out his latest band Ghost Work with members of Snapcase, Minus the Bear, and Milemarker.
