Sidney Smith is a national touring comedian that started his comedy career in Phoenix and has shared the stage with comics like Damon Wayans, Russell Peters, Whitney Cummings, Roy Wood Jr., Pete Holmes, Sinbad, David Spade, Judd Apatow and many more. Sidney is a prolific comedy creator and has created sketches, produced shows, and is the host of various web shows and podcasts, including "Now That's Debatable".
Sidney dropped in to talk with Stephen about:
-Sidney’s work outside his standup, including sketch writing, his online shows, and the importance of finding time to stretch yourself to be successful.
-The importance of recognizing when something isn’t working and knowing when to move on.
-Some of the most interesting open mic locations (LIKE AN ICE RINK) he frequented as he was growing before the Phoenix scene blew up.
-How important it is for comedians to understand that comedy is a business and why it will never be enough for a comic just to be funny on stage.
