On this episode of the future-award winning Moran-Alytics Podcast, Patrick Moran has a chat with recurring guest Bruce Nolan from the Nick & Nolan Show and among other things, Bruce puts on his GM hat to replace Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane and construct what Bruce thinks is a great Bills offseason.

To say Bruce took the task of replacing Beane seriously for the purpose of this exercise seriously is a gross understatement.  They start by going over the four pending free agents he re-signed to contracts, five if you include Quinton Spain who re-signed (for real) on Thursday.  One of those five are surprising considering the Josh Norman signing earlier this week.  Bruce elaborates on why he inked Kevin Johnson two a new two-year deal with a nice bump in pay.

They also spend time discussing the pending free agents he says goodbye to, including a pair of well known vets he didn’t feel were good marriages for the organization going forward.

Before getting to free agency Bruce gave the axe to a pair of veterans and dished out huge money to extend three key players totaling $135 million in contract extensions.

Bruce merely supplemented the roster with free agency, signing seven players but none of them exceeding $12 million for the duration of their contract.

Lastly was a draft, but with a twist.  The draft was simulated live in real time, meaning Bruce didn’t know ahead of time who he’d be able to draft.  Despite a consensus that fans would be calling for a wide receiver with the 22nd pick Bruce threw a big curveball and went offensive tackle, with a defensive end going in round two before landing on a wide receiver in the third.  The draft, and Bruce’s offseason additions ended with him taking a corner in the fourth round.

Beyond setting up the Bills for the 2020 season the guys spend time discussing the coronavirus that is ravaging the sports world and of course general society before settling into lighter talk around Bruce and his podcast co-host Nick Bat’s recent appearance on WGR Sports Talk Saturday and the guys trying beef on weck, wings and chicken fingers at Kelly’s Korner in North Buffalo.
