One of the interesting things with any profession is the depth associated within each – soccer is no exception.

For instance, if we’re talking coaching, well that isn’t exactly the same across levels or contexts.

Yes, it’s the same sport, but coaching the US Mens National Team isn’t the same as coaching the Argentine National Team.

And coaching U14 recreational soccer isn’t the same as coaching a U14 academy team trying to develop professionals.

Presuming of course, that proper work is being done.

Because lord knows we have coaches with recreational soccer skillsets entrusted with academy teams, and national team coaches who should be nowhere near national teams.

From youth to pro to national teams there’s an entire spectrum of differing skillsets involved to do the job, and do it well.

Then again, there is a lot of overlap.

So let’s be clear, just because someone has been operating in one part of the spectrum doesn’t mean they can’t operate at another.

In any case, today we’re gonna jump into the domain of college soccer here in the States. Specifically, we focus on the identifying, scouting, and recruiting process – and the rules that currently exist there.
