Filipinos have really strong family ties. Grandparents and parents care for their kids; when they are all grown up, they're expected to care for their parents and grandparents.
So when they have to choose between caring for their parents or grandparents and their jobs, it's a really big dilemma for them. Some might even quit their jobs when faced with that decision.
