Guest Bio: Dr. Janet N. Spriggs is the seventh President of Forsyth Technical Community College, assuming her role on January 1, 2019. With nearly three decades of leadership within the North Carolina Community College System, she has served in significant roles, including Chief Operating Officer at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Carteret Community College. Dr. Spriggs' leadership has been nationally recognized, including twice being named an Aspen Presidential Fellow.
A former community college student herself, Dr. Spriggs is deeply passionate about the transformative power of education. She holds a doctorate in higher education administration from Northeastern University, along with degrees from Nova Southeastern University and Roger Williams University. Dr. Spriggs is committed to advancing student success, equity, and economic development through education.
Beyond her presidency, Dr. Spriggs serves on several boards and commissions, including the executive committee for Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. She is also Vice President of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges. In her personal life, Janet enjoys golf, photography, crochet, and spending time with her husband, five children, and five grandchildren.
