In today’s study, we discuss how “elder” refers to older men, and not ministers. Paul said to treat them “as a father” and then he addressed ministers that he also referred to as elders later in v. 17. We talk about how Timothy needed to relate to older and younger believers “with all purity.” We then shifted the conversation to widows, and gave a biblical definition for those who “are widows indeed.” These women are truly desolate, godly, and prayerful, which means they deserve honor, respect, and our support.
