Jacki talks with Congressman Richard Hudson (NC) of the U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee to discuss plans for interim storage of nuclear waste in the middle of the country’s largest oil field, the Permian Basin, and why this might make the Permian a strategic target for attack. Jacki speaks with economist Richard Rahn, Chairman of the Institute for Global Economic Growth who explains the un-anticipated dangers to Americans from prolonged shutdown. He also delivers good news from the most recent data: If you are under the age of 24, you are more likely to die of crossing the street than of COVID-19. Richard argues that people opt to engage in truly risky behavior all the time, and that this freedom is not being weighed by public officials. Jacki and Tom Pyle, the President of the Institute for Energy Research, unpack the flaws of a new study touted by a former EPA Administrator showing that air pollution (PM 2.5) can increase the risk of COVID-19 for Americans. Mr. Pyle explains why the findings of the study do not add up and should not scare Americans. The United States has some of the lowest levels of PM 2.5 in the world, and federally regulated pollutants have decreased over 70% since 1970.
