Well-known inspirational Bible quotes often bring us comfort, encouragement, motivation, reassurance and strength. Yet we tend to gravitate toward such verses not just because they’re emotionally uplifting, but because they’re contextually sanitized, non-confrontational, and undemanding of us. Such a shallow use of the Bible robs us of the endless abundance of inspiration found all over the Scriptures, including in the most unexpected, less delicate, more in-your-face and provocative of places. So with that in mind, here are four inspirational Bible verses that no one in their right mind has ever labeled “inspirational.”
