The Sampoong Department Store was never meant to be a store - it was built as an apartment building and converted into a store. Developer Lee Joon ignored all the warning signs and made bad decisions after bad decisions - resulting in a collapse that killed over 500 people.

It's a classic 'Swiss Cheese' model - little things that add up to a huge disaster.
