What a weekend for the local nine... The Cincinnati Reds. As you and I talked last Friday, they were going to the south side of Chicago to face a bad white Sox team, and when I said bad… I didn’t think they were this bad! That team is awful. So the Reds did what youre supposed to do against bad teams….swept them! Cincinnati outscored the chicago white sox 27-5 over the weekend…….most people like talking about the 27….on dialed-in, we like talking about the five….five runs allowed. Andrew Abbott went seven on Friday night… Graham Ashcraft nearly six yesterday but THE story was THE RETURN of Nick Lodolo after missing basically a year with a broken leg. He is without question the best Reds pitcher when he’s able to take the ball. The TCU alum went 5 ⅔ innings, allowed only one hit, one walk, and strikeout ten batters. With the three-game win streak, the team sits three games over .500 at 9-6. They trail the co-leading brewers and pirates by a game and a half in the NL Central. The competition gets better starting tonight as the Reds open a three-game series in Seattle. A little bit better truth be told. The Mariners are 6-10 and are one of four teams yet to score 50 total runs this season… For comparison, the Reds have scored 90. Frankie Montas starts for the Reds… George Kirby for Seattle. Kirby has allowed 13 runs in his last seven innings. Congrats to the Pirates Andrew McCutcheon… He clubbed his 300th career home run yesterday against Philadelphia. 13th player ever with 2000 hits, 400 doubles, 45 triples, 300 home runs, and 200 stolen bases… that’s pretty solid. For the second time in three years, Scottie Scheffler wins the masters. The world’s number-one ranked player finished 11 under par to beat Ludvig Oberg by four shots. Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa, and Colin Morikawa finished four under par. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods and the Goat, Jack Nicklaus as the only three players ever with multi titles at the player's championship and the masters. Scheffler had the best score of any golfer in the final round with a 68. NUT CUTTER The NBA playoffs start tomorrow night….four teams in each conference will start a play-in tournament to decide the eighth seed. In the east, the four teams are the Bulls, the Hawks, the Heat, and the Sixers. Out west, the lakers, pelicans, kings, and warriors. Boston is the top seed in the east, and Cleveland a fourth seed. Oklahoma City is the top seed in the west.
