In February of 1972, three members of the Durham family were murdered in their Boone, North Carolina home. They were bound and bent over the bathtub which was found overflowing with water. Police had a pretty good idea of the family's movements from that night but could never figure out who would have wanted this seemingly wholesome family dead.

In the case of the Durham family, rumors floated around about a crime syndicate who were rolling back odometers to get more out of their used car sales.
