Welcome to episode fifteen of Activist #MMT. Today I talk with 3rd year MMT activist Lana Dell. Lana is a Minnesota resident originally from northern New Jersey, whose descendants were passengers on the Mayflower. After years of discouragement by scarcity scaremongering, by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Grover Norquist, Lana discovered progressive video journalist Tim Black. Black's twice-daily show is what Lana says preserved her sanity during the 2016 Democratic primaries and especially the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
During this time, Black had Steve Grumbine as a guest, who uttered the phrase "federal taxes don't fund spending." Hearing this for the first time immediately clicked for Lana, and is what led her to discover and read about Modern Monetary Theory. She soon became a volunteer for Grumbine's group, Real Progressives, and have been spreading the word of MMT ever since, on Facebook, Twitter, and in person.
Lana and I met online soon after I discovered MMT in February of 2018. We finally met in person at the September 2018 Second Annual International MMT Conference in New York City, and again at this years 2019 conference in Long Island. We also discovered in today's interview that we share a love of singing. You can find Lana online on Twitter, at @organicfanatic5.

We shouldn't have to beg,
but we do have to beg.
So it's not *that* we beg,
but *who* we beg.
I am choosing to beg you, my listeners, to financially support this show.
