In this episode, we spoke with Chris Maclean, Creative Director for RE Sydney, part of M&C Saatchi.
Formerly Executive Creative Director for Interbrand Australia, Chris has been a practicing designer for over 13 years. He's originally from Manchester in the UK but has been living in Sydney for over 10 years.
We talk about working on the Telstra rebrand at Interbrand before moving to Interbrand and working on Optus. We also get the chance to hear the back-story on the Alzheimers Australia rebrand that not only changed public perception but also secured much-needed Government funding. This gives a great insight into Chris’ process and how the search for the problem always needs to take priority. We also wrestle with the idea of what a Creative Director needs to know, the unique skills and how they design through a team, rather than getting on the tools. How does the creative process change in this circumstance and how do you manage the inherent discomfort it brings.
