Hey everyone, Mariano here!
Here's a question for you. What is your most successful method of introducing a training tool to an owner? Do you do it the moment that you have a strong inclination that this may be the best approach for that particular dog? Or do you prefer to gradually move your way through tools knowing all the while that you plan to aim for one in particular so that the clients can feel the need for the tool in a more natural way? It's a good question. On the one hand, you don't want to seem disingenuous, or like you've been "beating around the bush", by starting small. On the other hand, if you scare the client away before they ever give the tool a chance then you're not helping them at all.
Brent and I have mixed feelings on this. We don't agree on everything, but we try to see the value in the others' approach. In this episode, we go over our respective approaches in regard to introducing training tools. The truth may lie somewhere in the middle, and the best approach will always depend on the trainer and their strengths and communication styles with clients. Join us as we discuss how we approach this topic, how we came about these ideas, and what we have yet to learn regarding this topic.
