Im am absolutely fanatical about the quality of the foods that we choose to eat. In many ways this is one of the first rules of healthy eating and olive oil is no exception.

Unfortunately most people don’t understand why it is so important to be really fussy about the olive oil they choose to buy or even what to look for a good quality product. Brenda Wilkinson of Rio Largo chats to us about what you as the consumer need to look for when purchasing a great olive oil. Good quality virgin olive oil is high in protective polyphenols or antioxidants. It is known to be protective against heart disease, dyslipidemia and dementia. I cannot emphasise enough how important is it to shop around, ask questions and look for certification when you are spending money on olive oil.
