"The receptionist at the doctor’s office gives you a sheaf of papers to fill out. As the air-conditioning repairman leaves, he hands you a contract. In a spa’s waiting room, you’re asked to sign an agreement before your Swedish massage.
All this may be presented as routine paperwork — no big deal. But the consequences of filling out forms and signing your name could be very big indeed. You might be weakening your privacy, giving up legal rights or agreeing to prices and charges you never dreamed you’d have to pay. So what should you do before taking pen in hand? When can you decline to sign?" (AARP).
Join us this week as we discuss things you might not know you needed to know about signing your name on the dotted line, including what it means and what it doesn't mean depending on the words preceding it.

"If the dog’s mere presence provides comfort, it is not a service animal under the ADA. But if the dog is trained to perform a task related to a person’s disability, it is a service animal under the ADA. For example, if the dog has been trained to sense that an anxiety attack is about to happen and take a specific action to help avoid the attack or lessen its impact, the dog is a service animal" (ADA.gov).
Knowing that there is a difference between a Service Animal and an Emotional Support Animal may be common, but what are those exact differences? Join us this week as we discuss what makes a service animal a service animal, and how an emotional support pet might differ.

Join us this week as we dive into what you can expect when you come into a marriage with debt, what you can expect when your partner comes into the marriage carrying debt, and the realities of paying off said debt after your loved one's passing.

"As life expectancies lengthen and medical technology advances, the number of older adults undergoing surgical procedures increases. While these procedures can greatly improve quality of life and health outlooks for patients, they can also cause short-term impediments that can impact an older adult’s ability to live comfortably and independently in their home. Fortunately, most surgical procedures have a long enough lead time that these challenges can be offset."
Join us this week as we discuss how you or your aging loved one can be better prepared for all that surgery requires before and after the operation!

"Scammers use lots of different tactics — stories about grandchildren in distress, million-dollar prizes, a romantic future, or a business deal — to try to steal peoples’ money. Scammers may demand payment by wire transfers, gift cards, and cryptocurrency — methods that transfer funds quickly and anonymously."
Scams are terrifying, as they are so often completed before you even realize what's going on. Our older generation tends to be more vulnerable, and there's only so much we can do to help them stop it. Fortunately, there are some things to look out for that can equip your older loved ones to be more vigilant. Join us this week as we discuss ways to prevent scams, protect your loved ones, and what do if you are scammed.
