The Lady Bod Pod

Episdoe:117- Baby Formula Shortage

Listen Later

Dr. Oakley and Holly chat about the current baby formula situation and the difference between breast feeding and feeding babies' formula. A nationwide shortage of baby formula is proving stressful for families. Mothers Milk Bank has been fielding more calls from people interested in donating breast milk due to the shortage. The milk bank serves families with a prescription for human breast milk, which means the organization prioritizes medically fragile babies. But the milk bank is also able to help others on a short-term basis. The FDA is taking emergency steps to increase the supply of baby formula after a plant closure led to shortages. Federal policy may have contributed to over-reliance on a handful of formula suppliers. Business Insider says Nestle is flying baby formula from Europe to the United States to help ease the baby formula shortage. The formula is coming from Switzerland and the Netherlands. Hopefully this will be resolved soon. Thanks to our fabulous sponsor: WE'RE SPILLING THE PEE ON UTIS!!!! Dr. Oakley loves and recommends Utiva to her patients and she takes it daily. Check it out: https://www.utivahealth.com/ - Her favorite is the Utiva Cranberry PACs: it's a simple, small, once-a-day pill taken for daily support of the urinary tract to prevent ongoing UTIs. PACs are also the antioxidant of the cranberry and provide other gut health benefits. Love it!! This isn't your typical cranberry pill… https://www.utivahealth.com/ Thank you for listening.
