Episode 014: Parental Strategist Shares the Nurtured Heart Approach with Lillian Reekie

Listen Later

“It was really dysfunctional. Our home just felt like I just wanted to cry everyday because our youngest son was pushing all the buttons.  I was his favorite toy which is a nurtured heart terminology so I got most of the flack. He pushed all of my buttons and I pushed all of his buttons purely because we didn't know what we didn't know that we were parenting upside down so badly. ” Lillian Reekie

In this episode, Lillian Reekie's Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) educator shares he passion for education and how her career in childhood education morphed through her parenting journey.

Lillian’s son went to 5 different childcare centers due to oppositional behavior and complaints. Lillian authored a book on food additives and was known as the supermarket detective. “A guide to making your home a happier and healthier environment”.

How Lillian and Andrew recognized that they were parenting totally incorrectly after watching a VHS tucked into the back of a bookshelf by Frank: How to Handle the Revolting Child.

99.97% of parents are parenting upside down, they have all the love in their hearts the best parent they can be, however, we bring into our relationships generational stress and trauma.

We are our children's favorite toys, they are seeking connection and know what button to press.

The three stands of the nurtured heart approach are: Absolutely No, Absolutely Yes, and Absolutely Clear.

Our portfolio of not being good enough, and always getting in trouble, means that this is the self-talk we carry through life, in our adult relationships, in our career choices, with Nurtured Heart Approach we build our child's inner wealth and portfolio of beliefs.
